Independent Thinking
Questioning assumptions, examining evidence, and looking beyond conventional wisdom.
I've spent much of my professional life working through complex problems, bringing people together, challenging assumptions, and finding practical solutions.
Along the way, I've developed a deep interest in investing, financial markets, and the decisions we make about money.
Although these may seem like unrelated pursuits, I've found that they share something important: good decisions begin with asking the right questions, understanding the evidence, and recognizing what we don't know.
My professional background is in project management, telecommunications, and operational improvement.
Throughout my career, I've worked on complex, large-scale initiatives, including a $14 billion telecommunications network transformation project. My contributions have focused on coordinating technical and operational teams, identifying obstacles, improving processes, and bringing the right people together to develop and implement practical solutions.
These experiences have shaped the way I approach problems, including those involving investing.
I believe in preparation, disciplined analysis, questioning conventional wisdom, and recognizing that sometimes the best decision is to do nothing at all.
Questioning assumptions, examining evidence, and looking beyond conventional wisdom.
Applying research, experience, and disciplined analysis to real-world decisions.
Connecting lessons from business, technology, and life to the world of investing.
BLUF: Bottom Line Up Front.
Investor's BLUF is where I explore investing, financial markets, risk, and the broader questions surrounding financial independence.
My goal is straightforward:
To help readers understand financial subjects, challenge assumptions, and develop the confidence to make informed decisions of their own.
I write from the perspective of an individual investor, sharing research, observations, lessons learned, and occasionally the questions for which I haven't yet found satisfactory answers.
I don't believe successful investing requires predicting tomorrow's headlines. I believe it requires understanding what you own, why you own it, the risks involved, and when patience may be more valuable than action.
